Akwaaba!

Last night we landed in Accra, after two days of traveling. Our video documentary was going well, until I left the video camera on the plane in Accra. After sprinting back to the plane from Customs and begging 2 stewardesses and a pilot to let me on, we're back on track.

Fred, a local youth program coordinator, picked us up by taxi from the airport and drove us to the nearby YMCA, where we're staying for the next few nights. Beautifully rustic.

Sitting next to us on the plane was Lou Kellett, a foreign public health official from Ireland on a 6-month deployment to Ghana to coordinate health programs in the recent Ivory Coast refugee camps. She invited us to check out the camps while we're here, which we're anxious to see.

Today we're getting things together for our trip to Hopeline tomorrow, which is a branch of Partners Worldwide, connecting business wealth with nonprofit programs. We'll be sitting in on their 3-hour training in the morning and spending the rest of the day with one of the directors there.

Excited to see what develops...
