Partners Worldwide

Lets start with the most important fact of this entry... We both just took our first shower in 5 days. Wonderful.

We packed up early this morning to leave the YMCA (a bit too pricy for what it was worth). Took an hour taxi ride to Madina (within Accra) to meet Tina Oh, the director of the mentoring program for Hopeline, part of Partners International (out of grand rapids!). We observed a micro finance business training until noon and then met with the overall Program Director afterwards. What an amazing story of a start-up NGO.

Tina then explained that she is house sitting for the Regional Director of West Africa and needed some roomates for the night. We gladly filled her void. The house is beautiful and we're so grateful for the guidance she's offered us.

Around 8pm, we took a taxi downtown to meet with a few girls from ABAN, a local womens empowerment program in Acca. We went to the French Alliance, which is an open-air venue wih live music, food and drinks. We talked for hours and made some great connections. We plan to see them tomorrow afternoon on their field trip to the International Film Festival with the girls in their program (between 15 & 19) and their babies. We'll be filming the whole time.

Tomorrow morning we hope to meet with the Minister of Science/Health in Ghana... But time shall tell.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts/prayers. They're working!
